Just before the holidays, Mr. Tipple's Recording Studio entered the Mid-Market scene with cover-free live jazz, craft cocktails and small bites. Beginning tomorrow evening, Cadence—the spacious, connected restaurant from the same owner, at 1446 Market St.—will join in, serving patrons with a heavier appetite.

Located just steps from the Twitter building, Dolby headquarters and NEMA's luxury apartments, Cadence and Mr. Tipple's are the newest concepts from Jay Bordeleau, founder of the Lower Haight's Maven.

While Cadence and Mr. Tipple's share a kitchen, with chef Joey Elenterio at the helm, Cadence will offer a more upscale experience, focused on "progressive American cuisine."

The dining room — featuring a mix of classic tabletops and intimate teacup booths — will be reservation-only, offering four-course prix fixe meals for $49.

Alternatively, drop-in diners can take a seat at the communal tables near the full bar. There, they can mix and match dishes from the a la carte menu ($7-26), like roasted spicy cauliflower and charred, miso-braised beef cheeks. The restaurant also offers a cocktail menu unique from the one at Mr. Tipple's, and a large wine selection, with 13 by the glass.
